Driving to San Carlos
San Carlos is only a 250 mile, 4-hour drive from Nogales, AZ on Hwy 15, a four-lane divided highway.

 

The highway connecting San Carlos Sonora to the U.S. is a modern, 4-lane, divided highway with rest stops and Pemex gasoline stations at frequent intervals.

IMPORTANT:
U.S. car insurance does not extend to foreign countries, so you will need to purchase Mexican Insurance.
We highly recommend that you purchase Mexico Insurance before you leave on your trip. We can prepare your insurance policy along with your condominium reservation documents all in one phone call!

From Phoenix:
Take I-10 south to Tucson then I-19 south to Nogales. As you enter Nogales take Exit 4 which is Mariposa Rd. Turn right at the light, wind through the hills and cross into Mexico. You will then take the “new” four lane expressway for about 7 miles until you reach the toll station; fee is $1.50. Continue south for 3 miles until you reach the 21 kilometer station where you will park and go into the office. This office will require the following:

DRIVING INTO MEXICO HAS JUST BECOME EASIER! ALL YOU NEED TO OBTAIN AT THE 21 KILOMETER “ONLY SONORA” POINT IS A TOURIST CARD!

EVERYONE IN YOUR GROUP MUST HAVE A PASSPORT IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A TOURIST VISA.

TRAVELING WITH PETS – You will need to bring proof of your pets shot records.

TOLL BOOTHS – There are three toll booths en-route at Nogales, Magdalena, and Hermosillo. The tolls varies between $2 – $6 at each booth.
